ALLEN S. BLAIR concentrates his practice in the areas of mediation and arbitration as a neutral, labor law, employee benefits law, municipal law and bankruptcy. Mr. Blair is certified as a mediator in the state and federal courts and currently teaches Alternative Dispute Resolution and Negotiation at the University Of Memphis Law School. He is a mediator and arbitrator on the Commercial Panel and the Employment Panel of the American Arbitration Association. He has represented large creditors in complex Chapter 11 reorganizations and other bankruptcy matters and has served as legal counsel to a number of employee benefit plans. He is also City Attorney for the City of Millington. Mr. Blair successfully argued a leading affirmative action case, Firefighters Local Union No. 1784 v. Stotts, 467 U.S. 561 (1984), before the U.S. Supreme Court.
 
Mr. Blair has been a speaker at numerous seminars, including labor law seminars sponsored by Region 26 of the NLRB, arbitration seminars sponsored by the American Arbitration Association and programs sponsored by International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. He served as Chairman of the Litigation Section of the Tennessee Bar Association from 1997-1998 and Chairman of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the Tennessee Bar Association from 2002-2003. Mr. Blair has published works entitled Affirmative Action After Stott’s, 21 Georgia Law Review 1141, Summer, 1987 and "Ethical Dilemmas in Mediation" 31 University of Memphis Law Review 59, 2000. He is a member of the Memphis and American Bar Associations. He was in the 1981 class of Leadership Memphis.  Allen S. Blair has been included in The Best Lawyers for 2009 in the specialties of Alternative Dispute Resolution and Labor and Employment Law - he has received this honor every year for 25 years.
