JAMES B. JALENAK concentrates his practice in the areas of
corporate, real estate and estate planning matters. He regularly represents
clients in the acquisition, development, financing, and leasing of large
real estate projects. He has represented buyers and sellers in the
acquisition of businesses. He has extensive experience in stock redemptions
and other forms of reorganization and buyouts of business entities,
especially family owned businesses and physician groups. He has also
represented distribution and retail business as general counsel, and he does
estate planning for managers and owners of business clients.
Mr. Jalenak was named the Memphis Volunteer of Year by the Volunteer Center
in 1994, was awarded the McDaniel Award for his work with the Memphis Urban
League in 1997, and named Humanitarian of the Year by the NCCJ in 2000. He
is a Board Member of LeMoyne Owen College, Memphis Depot Redevelopment
Corporation, Memphis Jewish Federation, and Memphis Jewish Foundation. Mr.
Jalenak is Board Chairman of the Memphis Zoological Society and past
President of Temple Israel, Memphis Rotary Club, and Memphis Public
Education Fund. He was on the Board of Directors of Memphis Bar Association
in 1994 and 1995. He was also on the Board of Directors of Mid-South Title
Insurance Corporation prior to its merger into its parent, Lawyers Title
Insurance Companies. He was a lecturer at the University of Memphis School
of Law from 1971-1976. Mr. Jalenak is listed in the Best Lawyers in America
. He is member of the Tennessee Bar Foundation.
