The Memphis-based law firm of Harris Shelton Hanover Walsh, PLLC today
announced the opening of their Oxford, Mississippi, office. The firm, which
is ranked as the 5th largest law firm in Memphis, is the first of the larger
Memphis firms to open an office in the Oxford area
The new office is the result of attorney Stephan Land McDavid, who had been
practicing as McDavid & Associates, PC, coming with the firm. In addition to
McDavid, Milton “Dee” Hobbs, Jr. will also be joining the firm.
“We currently have an active practice in North Mississippi and have worked
with Steve for nearly ten years,” stated John H. Harris, Managing Partner of
Harris Shelton. “With the growing economic opportunities in North
Mississippi, we believed it was time to expand our relationship with Steve
and establish our presence in Oxford.”
Prior to the opening of the Oxford office, Harris Shelton attorney Neal
Graham commuted between Memphis and Oxford providing legal services to
clients and building the firm’s visibility in the region. Graham served as
the first Chairman of the North Mississippi Enterprise Initiative, Inc. and
helped the organization establish business incubator facilities in Oxford,
Batesville and Grenada.
“The key to a successful practice in North Mississippi is good contacts and
an in-depth knowledge of the economic opportunities of the region,” stated
McDavid. “The contacts that Neal, Dee and I have developed over the years
should enable Harris Shelton to be very competitive in this market.”
With the opening of the Oxford office, Harris Shelton will have a total of
45 attorneys with four attorneys licensed to practice law in Mississippi and
two licensed to practice in Alabama. In addition to Oxford, the firm
maintains offices in downtown Memphis and East Memphis.
